It’s a way of working which suits people of all levels from beginners through to pros. It’s very important having encouraging feedback and support when we are trying to make art, especially in these isolating conditions.
I can tutor adults, teens and children in this way.
“Each session with Ruth gives me more confidence to try new things, be daring and be creative in a wholly different way.”Andrea Sorrell

My vision is to enable people to feel confident and strong with their own unique way of drawing. There really is no right or wrong way of doing it, but it takes time to build up courage and flair in your work. Through fun and freeing exercises, I try to bypass the critical voice to begin with and to get stuff down on the paper before you have time to think. Later on I encourage a reflective, kindly look at your achievements and support you to make choices about which creative direction to go in.
“I have gained so much from these classes. As a complete beginner, the classes have allowed me to explore and to play with a new medium in a hugely supportive environment. I have seen my style develop, and have felt brave enough to take risks. The confidence I have gained in Ruth’s fantastic classes has impacted on other areas of my life. I have learned so much about myself. I cannot recommend it enough.” Georgia Williams
I’ve been teaching expressive drawing and painting for 14 years.

I love it when students email me their work after the class, and often share it on Facebook by way of building a healthy, encouraging community around our art practice. My followers love seeing the students work and once someone even bought a student’s picture, they loved it so much. Art classes facebook page
“ Whether you are an experienced artist or a beginner still finding your way, Ruth’s classes are excellent; full of wonderful ideas which stimulate our imagination. There is no pressure to conform but, instead, an invitation to respond to each exercise in a personal way that suits each individual participant.” Diana Reynolds
